About Us
Scott Kelly and Boris Robinson own the Southeast Gallery of Photographic Art in Vero Beach, Florida. Through the gallery we have been teaching workshops and seminars on many aspects of photography, with a big focus on digital photography and the various computer tools used to process and print photographs.
Both of us also have extensive travel experiences and enjoy exploring old and new places so we can find and capture unique and amazing images. For us, fun travel is also about getting to know people, enjoying not only the locals wherever we are, but also the group with whom we are traveling. Many great travel photographs are taken on a more personal level, capturing the finer details that are evocative of the feelings and emotions that places and people possess.
J. Scott Kelly
Over the past 25 years, full-time professional photographer
J. Scott Kelly has had the privilege of traveling the world, capturing inspired images and priceless memories for his clients. A native Floridian, Scott grew up on the beaches of South Florida, where he was able to master his photography skills taking advantage of the abundant tropical scenery and warm climate.
Upon graduating from Florida Institute of Technology in 1985 with an honors degree in Photographic Technology, he established the very successful Island Images Professional Photography Studio. Since that time, he has provided his commercial, wedding and portrait clients with creativity, quality and service. It has been with those clients that Scott has been commissioned to travel all over the United States, as well as to Greece, Finland, China, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Costa Rica, Mexico, and The Bahamas, photographing their corporate events, weddings, and portraits. In his travels, Scott has also had many opportunities to take "the road less traveled" in order to capture not only the beautiful unspoiled scenic vistas, but also the essence of the people and culture, resulting in award-winning images.
Scott's dedication to giving his clients the best no matter what it takes, continues to motivate him. In addition, Scott is passionate about sharing his knowledge of photography with photo enthusiasts through various levels of photographic workshops and photo walks. "Helping people discover their own talent, style and potential is very rewarding."
Combining his love of travel, his extensive photographic experience, as well as his sense of adventure, Scott is eager to share his knowledge with others who share the same passion. More than just another photographer with a camera and a willingness to travel - he has the care and commitment to help you come away with great photographs and a travel experience you won't forget.
SM Boris Robinson
Boris Robinson grew up in a family of artists and writers living first in Tunisia then in England, spending summer vacations in the English countryside, the south of France and Tunisia, and Christmases in Paris. An avid photographer beginning in black and white film, Boris' initial interests were primarily people and architecture.
After coming to the United States and graduating high school in January 1977, he spent six months traveling in England, Belgium, France, Switzerland, the Alps and Dolomites, Rome, and Naples, finally ending up in Tunisia for two months photographing the ruins of Carthage and el Djem, and his favorite place, the hill-top village of Sidi Bou Said. In 1980, selling his Yamaha motorcycle for travel money, he went back to Europe for five months, this time extending the trip to Greece and a more comprehensive tour of the antiquities of Naples, Florence, Pisa, and Venice. Over subsequent years, international expeditions included trips to Brazil, England, France, Spain, Italy, Hawaii, Bermuda, and the British Virgin Islands.
Still preferring black and white images, Boris is now using digital photography and technologies. His work life has gone from high-energy physics in college and working at Fermilab, patenting a mass flowmeter and starting a company in Boston, technical writing for twenty years in Florida, to full time fun with photography.
Adventure travel is a way of life and never liking to be a tourist, his idea is to live and stay as locals live. What this means is that one has to slow down and spend a little time in the cafés and bistros meeting people and enjoying life, putting the quality of friends, family, and food above time and itineraries. In this way, the secret spots and best places can be discovered, enjoyed, and photographed.
